After yesterday’s rest day, which also allowed time for some beach exploring and putt putt with grandparents and kids, I felt pretty good. My goal for today was 2 swims and at least 3 hours, and I made it happen (with some help from hubby – thanks hubby!). The first part of the first swim was with friends (thanks friends!)… after that it was me doing 5 minute back-and-forths in front of our hotel balcony. Not the most interesting day of swimming I’ve ever had, but it got the job done.
Strange – I laid down in between the two swims (I finished the first around 3:00 and got in for the second around 5:00), and I experienced something new – I felt like waves of cold kept coming off of me under the covers. I was worried that the second swim wouldn’t go well, but I actually felt great, cold-wise. So I’m not sure what was going on there, but it doesn’t seem to have had any bad effects.
The plan is to do the same thing (2 swims, ~3 hours) for the next two days. Then to do a single on Friday and rest up for an aspirational 6-hour on Saturday – I’m still working on setting that one up. The predicted low for Friday night? 36 degrees Fahrenheit. Oof.
