DIY Training Camp Day 7
Well, that was 2 hours I wasn’t sure whether I could do. I’m so cold.
I had no one to swim with today and the weather couldn’t have been more different than the last few days. Cold, windy, nobody on the beach. So I wanted Eric closer, but felt bad making him sit out in the cold.
You know it’s bad when you are feeling sorry for your support crew.
So we waited until 4 in the hopes of getting the best weather of the day (and not disrupting his work too much).
It was the toughest swim I’ve done, mentally and physically. I’ve been doing this for 7 days and I’m tired. So even though I was much more sore after Saturday’s 5-hour swim, somehow this one was worse. And having to do the whole thing with no company in the water was not appetizing. But I sucked it up and did it anyway. And even though it wasn’t the 3 hours that today’s plan called for, it was 2 hours more than the nothing that sounded pretty good from my warm bed.
I was too cold for an “after” video – Air 58, Water 59, 2-hour swim. The wind was just brutal.
You know the wind is bad when you try to leave your hands in the 59 degree water to warm them up.
On the bright side, I hadn’t realized how beaten up I’d been by the waves the last couple of days. The ocean was so calm today I could swim right next to the shore, and my shoulders feel a lot better tonight.
When I lay in my bed at night, it feels like I am on a boat. Cool.
