Jenny Smith is the bomb. I chatted with her today by phone after being put in touch with her by Ned Denison and, crazy world, it turns out we swam next to each other for a long stretch of the Fontana Lake swim (I was doing 10K, she was doing 15K).
Take-aways:
- The Channel is all about being trained, finding your groove and staying in the zone.
- Practice feeding from a boat
- Feed on something you like at 6 hours to get you past the wall (for her, flat coke)
- Liquid drugs (ibuprofen, peptobismal, etc.) can be easily squirted into feeds
- Having allergy medicine on the boat is a good idea
- Some people take zyrtek every day starting a week out from jellyfish swims
- Feeds (and everything) – “Keep it stupid simple”
- She is in the Southeast, so hopefully we can do some swims together!
- Soooooo helpful!
