The (mini) Tale of the Seven Lakes
So this was bad. Coaching in the blistering heat until 8 PM the night before a morning race mayyyyy not be the best possible race prep. I was tired, I was crispy, and I took it out too fast. Not a typical failing of mine (quite the opposite), but people were watching, and the temptation to try to keep up with the kids I’d been training with was too strong. The 3rd lap of 5 was a particular suffer-fest. But I slowed down and got my stroke back in line and finished the thing. My time was poor, but I accomplished the main goal of getting back into the open water before my 10K. But Yuck.
On the bright side, after the swim I bought a Jolyn suit at long last and absolutely love it.
