Finally taking some steps again, but I don’t feel like the time I spent thinking about it was wasted. I didn’t go to the training camp, and I mentally moved my swim to 2021, and I feel pretty good about both of those decisions. There are more camp options out there, and this will give me time to explore what the best option might be. I emailed the other boat pilots and am waiting to hear back about their available slots and any advice they might have.
Once I’ve reserved the boat, I want to talk to JP and see if he feels like training with him would be a good fit. If not, I do feel like I need SOME coaching. Someone with channel experience. Although the training really doesn’t worry me that much; navigating the process is much more of a concern. I feel like there is a whole group who could be helpful, I just am not IN that group yet. The google group is not very active, and I don’t see anyone posting the kind of naïve questions currently overrunning my brain. Off to email Johnny’s B.I.L and see what kind of tide he swam on 🙂
Later that day. Finding a 10K swim was on my list, and it just appeared in my inbox. Fontana Lake in NC, July 20: https://www.swimwithoutlimits.com/event-information-fontana-lake/
[2019 Commentary – wussed out on talking to JP, STILL haven’t really told Bescher that this is the end goal. Interesting how difficult this is for me to talk about with people.]
