Breakthrough!!! The combination of talking to the helpful coach (Loretta Cox) that Charles Van Der Horst suggested AND being completely fed up with this whole boat reservation decision process has finally spurred me to be done with it and commit. I’m booking July 11-16, 2021 with CS&PF pilot Eddie Spelling. He’s the funny one, and I feel pretty good about that. Well, as good as possible without ever having met the man and only having exchanged 5 emails with him. Being a first-timer sucks! …Hoping to be an only-timer makes it all the more intimidating. I don’t feel like it’s reasonable to spend the moolah to try this twice… but I’m putting that pressure out of my head as unhelpful and counterproductive.

Yay Boat!!!!

(Boooooo 300 pounds)

[2019 commentary – that’s Pounds sterling, not weight. But it would be difficult to swim the Channel weighing 300 pounds, I would think.

Full disclosure – in order to get myself to book, I had to book two pilots. I know it’s crazy, but I couldn’t decide between Eddie and Paul Foreman and couldn’t move forward without booking, so I booked both. In retrospect, it’s the best extra 300 pounds I have ever spent. It was fear holding me back – fear that I didn’t know what I was doing; fear that I would do the wrong thing and regret it. And as silly as that fear (like most fears) looks in retrospect, fear makes us crazy and stupid. My slot will be snapped up in a jif once I make a decision, so my reasoning was that I wasn’t hurting anyone (except my bank account!)] Yay Other Boat?!?
