I didn’t blog yesterday, and I didn’t really do much that was specifically Channel related. I did get a bunch of life stuff done, which is good because I am way behind on life stuff. And then I did my 28 mile ride with my Bicycle Chain group. I was surprised by how not bad it felt after almost 2 months completely off bike and trainer. My butt isn’t even that sore. My foot feels a lot better today – I’ve really got to find a way to keep cross-training a part of this, even as I swim to a crazy degree. It balances everything out.
My swim this morning was nothing to brag about – quite the opposite. I didn’t feel so bad, but I was slow slow slow. I did a 1:19 (LC) on Monday – today I struggled to go under 1:30. Hopefully just the after effects of last night’s ride, but boy did it not feel good to post those times to the clock.
I realized that if I can make 6×3300 meter practices a week, that’s just about 20,000 meters still. If my BOB stroller run training is any indication, I can work up some speed that way and hopefully keep my endurance up. I certainly found that when I was training for my century ride, a little bit each day was not a bad way to train… as long as I had a long day each week. This is good news for being able to swim long distances without spending ALL of my time with my face in the water.
I am never forgetting the study that found that the number one factor in Channel swim success was amount of time spent training in the ocean. Hopefully the Falls Lake group will work out for me in the fall…
