Achievement Go Pro

I’m back! Again!

February was just miserable this year. The water at the beach got down to around 40, and every weekend it was cold. Or rainy. Or usually cold AND rainy. No open water swimming for me until yesterday, and my pool swimming was still based around shoulder recovery. I was quite the grumpy Gus by Friday the 26th.

Before – since Paul couldn’t be here, I had to learn to use my (well, my son’s) GoPro

But yesterday’s swim was great. 52 degree water according to the National Weather Service page. The air was over 70 degrees and the day was beautiful. As always, I worried about how I would handle the temp, especially after having been out since December, but as always (so far), I needn’t have worried.

After
Toy goggles! (May be able to pair with Apple watch to get pacing info)

I spent quite a bit of time playing with my new toy goggles (which annoyingly do NOT tell me my swim pace, only my stroke rate and the total time. They are basically a wearable clock in the open water.) That definitely cooled me down a bit, as well as the fact that I was easing off on the pace lest I get my shoulder right back into a state.

But even with that I felt good start to finish.

Note to self – for some reason, people who are experiencing 85 degree heat decide to drive to the ocean. Next time, plan to get there before them.

(PS – When I woke up this morning that pokey-out bone on my shoulder was back. No pain and the theracane didn’t even hurt last night. So weird.)
