Foot is feeling less pre-plantar fasciitis-y today. Stretching my hip as well as my hamstring seems to be the key. My shoulder/neck area is still a mess. I need the stroke whisperer that worked with Natalie Coughlin to come fix my technique. It seems to be largely flip-turn related – I’m going to do them all to the opposite side going forward and see if it improves. It’s just a dull ache now, but I’ve got long yardage day tomorrow, which is what has been cranking it up to 11.
Just yoga today – then coaching till 8:15. I think I might be crazy. I don’t think I’ve said – I’ve at least mentally committed to doing the 12-mile Swim Around Charleston in October. So, yes, crazy. But at least I won’t be trying to train while coaching summer league. And I shouldn’t need to get up so early so often. Yay.
[2019 Commentary – I switched to doing everything to the opposite side – flip turns, open turns, which hand is on top in streamline, what shoulder I carry my bag on, etc. I’m convinced that it saved me. And I gained new respect for toddlers – creating new muscle memory is HARD!!]
