Not much blogging in the lead up to and during the first week of coaching Cary Swim Club summer league. But I’m seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.
That means I haven’t yet talked about the week of 20,000 yards. From May 6th – May 9th, I did 20,000 yards. (I was going to put it in miles, but somehow 11.4 miles doesn’t sound nearly as impressive as 20,000 yards).
I feel really good about it. My shoulders were sore, but not in trouble; my recovery was so, so much better than in April; and two of the practices were 7000 + yards. If I can do that, I am confident I can do a 10K.
So the next step is to figure out how I can keep swimming through the summer league season. (I did a single 45 minute workout this week – not so good). The most obvious option is to keep swimming with Bescher’s group… now 5-7 AM. Ugh. It’s hard enough to get up two days a week. Trying for more may result in a grumpy, overlifed Laura. I could swim from 3-4:30… but have no one to swim with. Oh yeah, and then I’m not home for the kids and can’t take them to practice. Well, I guess I could go get them.
Maybe I’ll see how getting up Monday morning goes and go from there.
I’m reaching the point where I’m going to need to start telling people about this… but I’m not mentally there yet.
