I did not get much done around the ECS (English Channel Swim)… maybe I should give it a nickname… insanity planity?) over my long weekend at the W&L alumni reunion, other than learning that I am too old to stay out late partying and then get up and work out in the morning and go all day. Tired grumpiness and a general dissatisfaction with the world is all that will get me, and I should keep that in mind. So, kind of a productive weekend.
I emailed Jason Hoholis after seeing that he is swimming the Channel this summer with Paul Foreman as boat captain – I’m making a note in my calendar to ask him about his experience after.
He also put me onto this very extensive blog: https://loneswimmer.com/channel-marathon-swimming-articles-index/
Which led me to this important site: https://marathonswimmers.org
I spent way too much time this morning reading about the Diana Nyad controversy, which I basically didn’t even know existed. So at least that’s one less thing I’m ignorant about at this point. Huzzah.
[2019 Commentary – I DID email Jason again after his swim, and got an email back from him (see Wednesday 14 Aug 2019). I am laughing at the fact that I have already cited the two sites above earlier in this blog – it was so much to learn in the beginning!]
