Got a FB message right back from Pat G-C – she is as awesome as I assumed! She had a couple of pilot recommendations – both CSA (Channel Swimming Association). I kind of like her logic “they were first.” And looking at the pilots’ websites inspired confidence. I’ve emailed them both – we’ll see what they say.

I’m getting emails back from John Dolittle on a regular basis now –yay. Here’s his advice on position: “1st or 2nd position… 3rd / 4th, you really have no control over the conditions you swim in. 1st is optimal (first right of refusal)… I was a 2nd. Big importance is working your way up to 10-hrs in H2O that is no more than 60 deg… that is almost more important than “yardage” ;-). “
