Did my first two open water swims in 7 months this weekend, and it was glorious. There is just a part of me missing when I’m not out there.

Woke up to pouring rain Sunday, but it held off enough to get in a good swim
Thanks to Paul for getting this in the books – I thought my watch was out of battery… it wasn’t.

And boy were we out there – plenty of chop and a beautiful day on Saturday, massive waves and spitting rain on Sunday. Seeing your fellow swimmer 8 feet above you on a wave is quite something.

It’s even beautiful on a gray day
This is not completely right – my watch then DID run out of battery. But you get the idea. Hard. Effing hard. But sooooo fun.

My training is back on track in the pool as well, at least for now. And I’ve potentially figured out how to get in a couple of 2.5 hour swims each week, in addition to an hour a day. Especially with having postponed (effectively) to 2022, that seems like plenty. The OW plan is every other weekend at the beach, and Falls Lake on the opposite weekends. Time to nail that cold tolerance down!

I also had my first good-feeling run last night and I continue to cross-train pretty consistently.

I am a bit tired 🙂

PS – A million thanks for the use of the most amazing guest house!

PPS – It appears that no one else has seen the movie “North Shore” – but getting out past those waves (twice!) while being pulled back by my buoy seemed just as challenging as watching the kid from Arizona try to get out past the big wave breakers in Hawaii!

Talky talk

Wheeeeeeee!
