Spent Sunday resting and working and Monday doing the kids school boxes. STILL not finished! I’m burning all of their work from here on out!

Here’s my list from Saturday of what to take to the beach:

[2020 Commentary – I’m continuing to update this as I figure out what works and what doesn’t]

Food

  • Hot Tea
  • Chocolate Milk (note to self 10/13/20 – check old milk for curdling. BEFORE leaving home)
  • Nuts
  • PB packets
  • Gu
  • Baby food pouches
  • Open-mouthed water bottle (like I’ll use in the Channel – practice fast feeds)
  • 2 water bottles for the drive
  • Peanut butter and apples (Covid)
  • Lots of water (Covid)
  • ** Used January 2020 time off to perfect a PB banana casserole – great imitation of PB & banana on toast
  • Carbo pro (makes me bloat? Try chocolate milk instead. Does anyone have some Maxim I could try?) (Per Tara/Christie chocolate milk and carbo pro/maxim are in different categories (protein vs. carbs). But choc milk has carbs too… I mean, I know they’re right and I’m wrong… I just really like chocolate milk)
  • Bread w/butter (nothing to prepare at 5 AM. Not even buttering)
  • Apple slices (bad choice – regurg. Try bananas)
  • OR – Raw Apple Cake (Nope – apple regurg)
  • Water in camelback (nope – water gets squeezed out)

Non-food

  • Suit
  • Parka and Gloves
  • Swim Buoy
  • 2 towels (at least)
  • Warm clothes
  • Apple Watch
  • Ug boots (Well, imitation Ug boots in my case. Thank you, Ug, for popularizing something that is perfect to slip on after swimming in 60 F water.)
  • Earplugs
  • Vinegar (in the Jellyfish Months)
  • Wetsuit just in case (mwah-ha, victory!)

Fun Gadgets

  • FORM Googles
  • GoPro

Covid Edition – Sleepin’ in da’ Van

  • Two Swimsuits
  • Hand Sanitizer and Wipes
  • Flashlight (and extra batteries)
  • Lots of Books
  • Jonathan’s air mattress
  • Sheets, Pillows, Blankets
  • Socks, PJs
  • Toothbrush
  • Charging cables! Watch too!
