I did swim at Wrightsville on Saturday the 24th, but I’ve procrastinated writing this post so long that I’ve forgotten what I was going to say about it. Yet another reminder that in life, sooner and less perfect is frequently preferable to later and undone.

My training is now going better than it has in a year. I’ve been in the ocean consistently, and I’ve been able to do pool workouts three days a week. I now have some control over it, so it’s much easier to train both more sensibly and more effectively. I took an easy week after I got home from DIY training camp, and now I’ve had three weeks to try and get somewhere. My speed has improved, and a main set of 8×500’s went pretty well yesterday. I’m getting my second Pfizer shot today, so taper week may start tomorrow, depending on how I feel.

I’ll be competing on May 8 for the first time since October of 2019 – yay! and I’m pretty pumped. This is the O’CRUD (I kid you not) 10K in Charlotte.

Many thanks to Molly, who has volunteered to be my kayaker and thanks as well to the the lender of the kayak – I can’t remember who it is, but just spent 10 futile posting minutes on Facebook trying.

Such great people to swim with!

It’s too bad the truck doesn’t show up well on the GoPro – it was quite something.
Boy, should these be taken with a grain of salt. Anyway, water temp 61? Air temp 65? There was some playing around in this swim, but it felt good – I was really tired and needed some ocean love.
