WB DIY Training Camp Day 8

It was so nice to have people in the water with me most of the time I swam! The wind was super cold today – the air temp was 43 but the “feels like” was 35 degrees. Wind at about 14 knots, I think Burak said. Water temp 58-60 depending on the website. An hour was fine, but I really, really hope that it’s a bit warmer and a bit less windy tomorrow. The second I slowed down to cool down I really cooled down. And I’m not sure my shoulders can take 6 hours at a pace fast enough to keep me warm in conditions like today.

I did a decent job of taking it easy today – a mystery I’ve been pondering is that I seem much better than average with the current and much worse than average against the current. No doubt that some of the answer is my protectiveness of my still-recovering shoulders, but I’m wondering if there are some technique adjustments indicated.

Last swim before the last swim!

I again didn’t take an “after” video, but today it wasn’t because I was too cold – I just didn’t have anything to say. Now I will say – we had a really good push and made it from Burak’s to Blockade Runner in about 20 minutes. It only took us 30 on the way back, which was less than I thought it might take. I then coasted back to my Station 1 home away from home.

Tomorrow is all that’s left.
