Someday x October 2019

(Before the Swim Around Charleston)

By the end of August, felt like a total badass.  (Huge change from my attitude on the 20th. Getting in with the age groupers made me feel god-like – they had taken all of August off, and I had done two-a-days. (They got back into shape really quickly). But I was in the fast lane all of September, getting it done.

I may not have had time to blog each day (or at all), and I will have to find a way to get better at that, but I’m glad I gave my time, energy and attention to nailing my nutrition down (trying carbo pro for the first time 3 days before swim – thanks amazon), getting my equipment together and making sure I was well trained and ready to go. Only realizing now how tired I was.

Random notes:

bad mood taper – glad to read about 10K taper

[2020 Commentary – how can I always forget how mentally challenging tapers are to me? Probably cause I’m already in the midst of mental moods before I can consider it. And because I always look forward to the taper – it sounds so good when you’re in the heat of 7000 yards a day. I should make it part of my pre-taper to read about the bad moods of previous tapers.]

$61.75 for a gosh darned kayak rental. Grrrr

[2020 Commentary – See, I was in a bad mood. All credit to Kathleen, she runs a great race for a fair price. I just didn’t realize I would have to pay for the kayak rental. But my kayaker didn’t own one. In retrospect, no grrrs are necessary.]
