Tomorrow’s the day. One of my swimmers suggested this morning that I blog about it… little does he know that I have been, I’m just too chicken to put it out there for the world to see. Yet. My plan is to start spreading the word about my plans in August – then I can make this public. I’ve realized as I’ve been thinking about it that my plan to then release it one day at a time is stupid. It would be weird not to keep people up to the date that I’m on. So I’m trying to figure out if I’ll just post everything to date as archives, or if I should try to summarize. Some re-writing will be in order either way.

[2019 Commentary – summary achieved; editing in progress.]

So it turns out that coaching and end-of-season banquet takes way more out of me than coaching a swim meet… if I’m up on stage for a gazillion hours and it is a million degrees up there. Exaggeration becomes me, does it not? Anyway, I got up this morning in a bad, bad place – feeling bad physically, unsure about my nutrition, worried about my goggles and just generally in a bad mood. Oh, and convinced I sounded stupid at said banquet. But a little over an hour of getting loosened up in the pool improved most of that. My pacing is still slower than I would like, but at least if it’s because the pool is hot it means that I am well trained for the crazy water temp tomorrow.

They sent out an email that there had been rain and cloudy conditions – I’m waiting on the email update from today’s temperature measurements. Fingers crossed. I saved a cricket’s life at the pool today… we’ll see if it was a lucky cricket.
